WE'VE all got an opinion on gypsies – but love them or loathe them, how much do we really know about them? How many of us have actually sat and spoken to them about what they believe, and why? One Romany is dedicated to educating the settled community about his people, and runs his own museum in memory of his father, who was a Romany, born and bred. Jemma Walton met him.
IN the shadow of the Merlin Polyurethanes and Spalding Potatoes buildings of Clay Lake Industrial Estate there hides a tiny gem of a museum, the only one of its kind in the world.It is owned and run by a man who wanted to put a stop to the ignorance and prejudice that has seen his people tormented, discriminated against – and even killed – during the past 500 years.
